Pickett's Corner
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Covington started a new ministry, Pickett’s Corner, in 2023. Named after Catholic Charities retired Executive Director and bicycling enthusiast, Alan Pickett, the new ministry repairs and distributes bicycles to those in need in the area. Most people who receive a bike will use it for transportation to work, the store, or doctor appointments.
Pickett's Corner bicycle repair clinic and distribution is offered 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at our Parish Kitchen, located at 1561 Madison Ave. Covington, KY 41011, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Now completing our second year of operation, we distributed approximately 450 bicycles in 2024 and 250 bikes in 2023, each one changed the life for our friends. Amazingly to us, the line of people requesting bikes has never ended. We need a steady stream of gently used bikes that we can repair. We also give our friends a lock with each bike. Our costs add up, but we can do all of this for less than $20 in costs for each bike.
How You Can Help:
1. We are accepting new and gently used adult size bikes. Please send an email to pickettscorner23@gmail.com to make arrangements for bike pickup or to volunteer. (please include your name, address and phone number so we can contact you to set up a convenient pick up time.)
2. Make a monetary donation to Pickett's Corner CLICK HERE
3. Buy one of our beautifully refurbished "higher end" used bikes. We have a variety of cruiser bikes, mountain bikes, hybrid bikes and road bikes available at a discounted price. These sales subsidize our cost of locks, innertubes, tires, etc. See our current list of bikes here Click Here
4. Volunteers are always needed. For more information contact pickettscorner23@gmail.com
Thank You!
On behalf of everyone at Pickett’s Corner, a ministry of Catholic Charities, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who donated bicycles or supported our efforts this year.

A Wonderful Success Story
“My new bike is the perfect vehicle and has been such a lifesaver for me," explained Percy, 50, a native of Richmond, Kentucky, who moved to the Tri-State area about a year and a half ago. "I use it for therapeutic purposes. I had ACL knee reconstruction surgery recently, and this bike has worked wonders on helping me rehabilitate my knee and it really helps make travel easier for me."
Percy is a regular guest at Parish Kitchen. He estimates he rides between 5 to 10 miles each day, traveling throughout downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky from the shelter to the grocery, to Lord's Gym to work out, to Parish Kitchen, and to other places. "This bike has made such a difference to me," he said.
"If you happen to see someone riding on Madison Avenue near Parish Kitchen," added Percy, "the bike is likely to be from Pickett's Corner. This program has been an incredible resource for so many."
