School Counselor

We are hiring for a counselor for our School-Based Counseling Program for the upcoming school year, from August 16, 2025, to May 31, 2026. This position is 40 hours per week, or 100% Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) for 9½ months.

Job Functions:

The ideal candidate should be capable of performing all duties associated with master's level mental health staff and should be able to work with minimal supervision. School counselors implement educational programs and interventions, conduct school counseling tasks, and provide therapeutic services. They are part of a school-based team that meets monthly for team meetings and peer case reviews.

 Educational and Experiential Criteria:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Clinical Counseling.
  • State-licensed (preferred) or license-eligible.
  • Practicing Roman Catholic preferred.

 Desired Skills, Experience, and Qualifications include:

  • Assessment and diagnosis of children and youth using knowledge of the DSM-5, along with treatment planning.
  • Skills for engaging effectively with parents and school staff.
  • A creative and flexible approach to meet the needs of both students and schools.
  • Case documentation and record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Preferred experience working with children and families in mental health, particularly in school counseling for grades K-8.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide School counseling in Northern Ky Catholic elementary schools.
  • Individual, small group, and classroom interventions.
  • Collect background information and meet with school students to provide assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for referred children and youth.
  • Engage family and school personnel in treatment goals.
  • Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies, community services, and other resources.
